The ‘Wings Over Indy’ project is a collaboration with the Amos W. Butler Audubon Society, with funding being provided by a National Audubon Together Green Innovation Grant. Three interns; Education, Chimney Swift and Common Nighthawk; will be working on the project. Interns will work with project team members to plan for and oversee construction of artificial nesting structures for declining, urban bird species – Chimney Swifts and Common Nighthawks – while simultaneously providing hands-on conservation education to Indianapolis Public School (IPS) students. The interns are Butler students hired through the CUE and will be working with community partners to develop the project. Tasks include site selection, outreach material research and preparation, gathering building materials for the Chimney Swift towers and Common Nighthawk nest platforms, coordination of craftsmen, tower construction, site visits, and reporting.
